Your Ceremony and Reception on One Property, Not a Hall Across Town
A lot of New Brunswick weddings happen in two places. The ceremony is in one spot and the banquet hall is across town, so your guests spend the gap in their cars.
At Bates Barn you can say your vows in the field or inside the barn. Then walk through the gate to the orchard for photos and come back in for dinner. Nobody has to find a second address.
Year-Round Barn Weddings, Rain or Shine
The main floor has heat and air conditioning, so a February wedding works as well as one in July.
If it rains on your outdoor ceremony, we move it inside. The barn holds your whole guest list either way
Inside the Barn: 40 by 82 Feet With a Mezzanine
The main floor is 40 by 82 feet, with exposed beams overhead. A 900-square-foot mezzanine looks down over the dance floor.
You can have your ceremony outside under the arch or inside the barn.
What's Included in a Bates Barn Wedding: Bar, Bartenders, Tables and Chairs
Your rental comes with a full bar and bartenders from 4 pm to 1 am. Many venues charge for bartenders on top of the rental, and couples often don't see it until the final bill.
Tables and chairs are included too. You get 39 tables and 275 white folding chairs, plus kids' tables and chairs.
The getting ready suite is yours for the day, with its own washroom, shower and vanity. Your caterer gets a prep kitchen with a private entrance.
What You'll Need to Bring or Rent
We don't supply linens, dishes, glasses or cutlery. Most caterers bring the dishes, or you can rent them.
You and your helpers look after set-up and take-down. If you'd rather hand that off, you can add our clean-up service for $400 plus HST.
What Does a Barn Wedding Cost in New Brunswick?
A weekday wedding starts at $1,950 plus HST. A single Friday, Saturday or Sunday is $4,950. The full Friday to Sunday weekend is $5,950.
Every price includes the bar, bartenders, tables and chairs. There's no minimum guest count or bar spend, so a small wedding pays the same room rate as a big one.
Our prices are staying the same through 2028. The retainer is 25% and payment plans are welcome. We take cash or e-transfer, but not credit or debit cards.

Bates Barn is a great fit if you want the whole day in one place and like picking your own caterer and vendors. It suits couples who are happy to set up with their family and friends.
It might not be the right fit if you want a venue that caters, decorates and supplies everything for you. We give you the barn, the bar and the land, and you make it yours.
Stay the Weekend: Wedding Accommodation for Your Party
The weekend booking runs from Friday morning to Sunday at 11 am. You get the rehearsal, the wedding and a slow morning after.
Our log house sleeps up to 12 people and is 6 km from the barn. It's only for Bates Barn couples, so you book it directly with us.
There are also six campsites with water and power for your guests.
Wedding Venues Near Saint John and Fredericton, Worth the Drive From Anywhere
Bates Barn sits in the middle of Saint John, Sussex, Moncton and Fredericton. Couples drive over from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and across Canada to celebrate at Bates Barn.
If you're comparing wedding venues in Saint John or Fredericton, you'll get a whole property here instead of one room.
Out-of-town guests can stay at Baysands, a short walk from the barn. The Amsterdam Inn in Sussex and Pleasantview Inn are close by.
The Apple Orchard, the Beach and Belleisle Bay
The Bates Family Apple Orchard is right through the gate, and it blooms in June.
Across from the barn is our own beach on Belleisle Bay, where you can swim. You'll also see the Belleisle Belle go by. It's the longest cable ferry in Eastern Canada.
