Common Questions
What is there to do near Bates Barn?
You can visit our roadside market and U-Pick next door, swim at the beach across from the barn, and tour the apple orchard through the gate. Golf, paddling, hiking and farm visits are all a short drive away.
Is there a beach near the barn?
Yes. The beach is directly across from the barn and on both sides of the ferry landing on Belleisle Bay, and swimming is allowed.
Can we pick our own fruit near the barn?
In season, yes. Bates Landing has a roadside market and U-Pick next door, and the Bates Family Apple Orchard opens in the fall. Check the Bates Landing Instagram page for the U-Pick schedule.
Where can guests stay near Bates Barn?
Most of our guests book through the places on our Preferred Vendors list. It includes a vacation rental within walking distance of the barn and a couple of inns in Sussex and nearby, all of them used to hosting wedding parties.
